MD Fellowships

For medical students whose experimental MD thesis is concerned with basic biomedical research. For further requirements please refer to “Who can apply?”

Purpose
To give gifted young medics the opportunity of availing themselves of excellent research conditions.

The fellowship

• MD fellowships are granted for 6–12 months.
• The monthly grant amounts to 900 euros in countries of the European Monetary System, and to 1,200 euros in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the USA. Depending on the cost of living, all further countries are grouped into one of these categories.
• In addition, MD fellowship holders may receive a travel allowance.

Timing and selection
Applications can be submitted at any time. Once the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds has ensured that the application is complete, it forwards it to an external peer reviewer. Based on his/her evaluation, the Foundation’s Trustees, scientists of international repute, will make the final decision. The entire process takes approximately 3 months.

How to apply
The entire application - including the project proposal - should be completed in English and by the applicant personally. However, we recommend consultation with the scientific supervisor. Required data and documents are listed under application.
